Pool covers
Safety, heat and evaporation — three different products people call one thing.
Three separate jobs get bundled under the word "cover": stopping a child getting into the water, stopping heat leaving it, and stopping water evaporating out of it. Very few covers do all three. California’s Swimming Pool Safety Act requires new residential pools to carry drowning-prevention features from a list the code sets out, and a listed safety cover is one of the options on it — your permit set will say which features apply to your job, and that is a conversation to have at design, not at final inspection.
On photographyA cover is by definition the thing that hides the pool, and every pool photograph this company owns was taken with the cover off. Rather than illustrate this category with someone else’s marketing image, it runs on description — and covers are one item where the specification, the listing and the anchor detail matter far more than the look.

Mesh safety cover
A tensioned mesh sheet strapped to anchors set into the deck. Rain passes straight through, so nothing pools on top of it, and it is the usual choice for a pool being shut down for a season.

Solid safety cover
The same anchored system in solid vinyl. Blocks light so algae cannot get going, and because rain sits on top of it, it needs a pump to keep the surface clear.

Automatic track cover
A motorised sheet running in tracks along both long edges, opening and closing with a key. The only cover people genuinely use every day, because using it costs nothing — and the one that most constrains the shape of the pool.

Solar blanket
A floating bubble sheet. Not a safety device in any sense — it will not hold weight — but it is by a distance the cheapest way to keep heat in overnight and stop water evaporating away.

Liquid evaporation barrier
A dosed product that forms a molecule-thin film on the surface. No handling at all, and much less effective than a physical blanket — worth knowing about, not worth mistaking for a cover.
